Billing questions
What happens to unused credits if I upgrade or downgrade?
Upgrading (Free → Pro) forfeits any unused Free credits and starts Pro clean at its full monthly allotment. Downgrading (Pro → Free) keeps your paid credits usable through the end of the period you've already paid for, then forfeits them once the downgrade takes effect.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancelling keeps your access until the end of the period you've already paid for, then reverts to Free — never cut off mid-period.
Do unused credits roll over month to month?
No — your balance resets to 100 credits on your billing date every cycle. Unused credits don't carry forward, so it's worth using what you've got before it renews.
Can I buy extra credits if I run out?
Yes, on Pro — extra credits are sold in preset packs at a markup over your plan's effective rate, so a top-up is always a worse deal than a full month's subscription, never a way to permanently avoid it. Free accounts can't buy top-ups.
What does a credit actually buy?
Most typical articles use 2 credits — Distilled's minimum charge per submission — regardless of exactly how long they are. Unusually long content (a full document, a multi-hour video transcript) uses more, measured against the real length, not a flat per-item price.
How do I pay?
Through Razorpay, in your local currency — India in INR, everywhere else in USD.
